History
NL Crit Series was founded on March 7th 2015 at Django’s Bikeshop in Haarlem by a various group of passionate people from within the cycling and fixed gear racing community. Main objective to create a fixed gear racing competition in The Netherlands was to provide many races to Dutch riders, to build racing experience and to help create riders to become international top level winning athletes.
Back in 2015 the series was named ‘Vast Verzet Bokaal’. On April 12th 2015 the first ever Vast Verzet Bokaal race was at the Amsterdam Sloten course. First race winners were Maria Jatkovics and Stefan Reimer, both riding for Team Fixedpott from Germany.
In 2016 the Men’s competition was separated in A and B races. By doing this more riders were able to compete at their own level. The B races attracted a large group of new competitors to fixed gear racing. Women raced together with the Men B from that moment on.
Because of the growing number of foreign participants and interest we decided to change the series name into NL Crit Series in 2017
At the end of 2017 the first ever women only race was held. This was followed by four women’s races during the 2018 season.
